Buena Vista ISD is providing notice to parents, families, and community members regarding back-to-school plans. As required, a minimum of one week prior to the start of school, the plan to mitigate COVID-19 is being disseminated to all families & posted on the District’s website. Please keep in mind the plans are subject to change. We appreciate your patience & understanding as we continue working to ensure a safe & productive environment for all.

BVISD School Reopening 2020
We are excited to welcome our students and staff back to school in August, whether we see you in-person or virtually. We are working to ensure a safe and productive environment for all. See below for current information regarding plans for reopening schools. Please note that details are subject to change based on guidelines from local, state and federal authorities.

Two learning options for students
Buena Vista ISD families will select from two options for their children.
* Option 1: Full-time in-person on campus, with heightened hygiene and disinfection protocols.
* Option 2: Full-time virtual with district-provided technology.

Grading and reporting
Grades will be taken during the return to school transition period and throughout the 2020-21 school year. They will count toward student GPAs for high school credit bearing courses. The grading system, grading scale, and number of required assignments will be consistent whether students are learning face-to-face or remotely. Students will move to four nine-week grading periods and will continue to receive progress reports every three weeks, with report cards being sent at the end of each nine-week grading period.

You must have already created a ParentPortal account AND verified your email address. (Verifying the email address can be done during the creation of a new account or for an existing account on ParentPortal>My Account (Email Address)). The email MUST match a parent/guardian's email address in campus's records.
